By all measures 2016 was an epic year, we’ve grown to the global south having worked with some incredible employers such as the Teach First & Network Rail. Now as we dim the lights for the winter break, we thought this would be the perfect time to share some of our lessons learned that may help you as a Lifelong Learner, connoisseur of EdTech or even an organisation that is interested in developing its human capital.
1. A global team leads to a global culture
At the beginning of the year, we opened our Cape Town office, coupled with our offices in London and Boston this has been a revelation, not only are we able to tap into the innovation of the global south but its has been crucial in giving us a truly global perspective.
2. Go to your audience, you cannot expect them to come to you / Mobile first for a mobile world
This spring we launched our branded iOS and Android mobile apps and have not looked back, the world is amidst a digital revolution and it only makes sense to make it as easy as possible for your users to interact at their convenience. This has had further benefit of creating tailored experiences leading to even higher engagement.
3. Smart Tools for Smart People
It's easy to let process get in the way. Working with thought leaders as varied as WPP & the Bank of England has really shaped the way we work, there is a constant need to keep in touch and collaborate. Embracing their talent with tools such as Slack and Zoom for communications, content reviews with frame.io, collaborating in real time with Google’s G Suite has allowed us to remove friction and focus on impact.
4. Future Proof = Fool Proof
Technology is very much a double edged sword, on the one hand there are no limits to what you can achieve, but on the other if you rest on your laurels you will very much be left behind, which is why we have stepped up our production to 4K & have now developed our first VR course.
5. VIP treatment
Working with companies is never easy, you have differing cultures, demands and challenges. However if we have learned anything the last few years, it is that the more you give to your clients the more they give to you, we now have dedicated (sorry fanatical) account managers whose sole job is to fight for their customer and things have never been smoother!
